CIPHE Technical Team hosted a training session presenting a guide to preventing contamination in domestic properties due to backflow and cross-connection.
During the presentation, they looked at how the 5 Fluid Categories are defined in the Water Supply (water fittings) Regulations 1999 and how plumbers can employ simple backflow protection measures to ensure that the occupants of the dwelling and, therefore, the mains cold water supply are protected against water/fluids other than those in Fluid Category 1.
