Trickling taps can be a nuisance for homeowners. But if there’s just one outlet that’s proving troublesome, installing a pump to improve the water flow across the whole house can feel a bit excessive.
Salamander Pumps, one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of water boosting solutions, has tackled this issue with their design of TapBoost – a cost-effective option to improve the performance of a single outlet. Training Manager at Salamander Pumps, Mike Oxley, has explained the five things you need to know about TapBoost.
It’s an in-line pump
TapBoost attaches directly to the pipework supplying the outlet in question. Its in-line design, with robust brass fittings, makes it easy to install to any outlet that requires a boost in water flow.
TapBoost can be installed either vertically or horizontally – but never upside down!
TapBoost boosts flow to 7 – 11 L/min
Simple tasks such as filling up the kettle or flushing the toilet shouldn’t be difficult, but a slow-flowing outlet can make it feel that way. TapBoost is designed to boost the water flow to 7-11 L/min, depending on the level of existing flow. For example, if a kitchen tap has an existing flow of 3 L/min, TapBoost will boost the flow by approximately 150%, giving an improvement of 7.5 L/min.
It’s suitable for lots of different outlets – not just taps!
Thanks to its compact, in-line design, TapBoost is suitable for many outlets both inside and outside the house. The pump can be fitted to improve the performance of an array of outlets, including bathrooms, toilet cisterns, bath taps, kitchen taps, washing machines, dishwashers and garden taps.
However, there must be a natural flow of at least 1.2L/min at the outlet to activate TapBoost, and the pump and power supply must be installed indoors.
TapBoost is suitable for any plumbing system
TapBoost can be installed in any property – no matter the plumbing system. This is because TapBoost is installed at the point of the outlet, rather than fitting before a combi-boiler for example.
However, it’s worth noting that for unvented systems, TapBoost should only be installed onto cold outlets.
New range of accessories now available
Salamander Pumps have recently introduced a new range of accessories, making the installation of TapBoost even more straightforward. The new accessories include an 15mm to 22mm Conversion Kit as well as a 5m Low Voltage Extension Lead. This new range ensures installers can easily find the correct fittings for a smooth installation.
