The Bathroom Manufacturers Association (BMA) has raised over £4,000 for the Band of Builders charity during the recent BMA Industry Conference. The funds were generated through the generosity of attendees, who participated in an auction and raffle at the conference’s gala dinner in Leeds.
The Band of Builders charity, which began in 2016 with a heartfelt project led by landscape gardener Addam Smith to support a friend battling terminal cancer, has since grown into a leading organisation offering practical, financial, and emotional support to members of the construction sector. With over £1 million in project delivery value, the charity has significantly impacted the lives of those facing illness, injury, or life-changing circumstances.
Tom Reynolds, Chief Executive of the BMA, expressed his gratitude to those who donated:
“We are overwhelmed by the generosity of our members and guests at this year’s gala dinner. Raising £4,290 for Band of Builders is a testament to the kindness and spirit of our industry. Thank you to everyone who contributed, whether by donating items for the auction or purchasing raffle tickets. Together, we are helping to make a meaningful difference.”
The association expressed its gratitude to the companies that donated some exceptional prizes, including Duravit, Hansgrohe, Just Trays, Kohler Mira, Croydex, KBB Focus, Thomas Dudley, Lakes Showering Spaces, Thomas Crapper, Ideal Standard, Roman, Altecnic, Methven, Salamander Pumps, Saniflo, JJO, Coram, Lecico, and Roca.
Andy Taylor, Partnerships Director at the Band of Builders, attended the gala dinner and explained the charity's mission in a speech to attendees. Following the announcement of the cash raised, he said, “Raising funds is central to our success, and I felt the willingness within the room to help our cause. We are thankful to receive this donation and want to thank all those companies who donated the prizes.”
Gavin Crane, Band of Builders CEO, also extended his thanks:
"We are incredibly grateful to the BMA and all those who donated at the gala dinner. The money raised will help us continue our vital work, supporting tradespeople and their families during some of the toughest times in their lives. This kind of support means everything to us, and we can’t thank you enough for standing with us."
